SHOWER THOUGHTS

WITH JO ROSENTHAL
Jo Rosenthal is ...

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU FELT VERY INSPIRED?

This chef I work with gave me a tin of anchovies that he imported from Italy. I was planning to wait for a special occasion to open them, but I opened them in haste one hungry day, ate two straight out of the tin, put them in the fridge, and forgot about them until I cleaned my fridge a week later.

These anchovies, which I fondly think of, were quite possibly the best I've ever had. Better than any kiss, they not only helped me finish the writing I'd been putting off, but they also made me excited for what's to come.

If only every moment could be as special...

WHAT DO YOU VALUE THE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY?

I am one of, if not, the funniest people you will ever meet. I've been told by two of the funniest people I know that I am the funniest person they know. I've debated attending clown school more than once and I'll let you decide if that's a joke or not.

WHAT'S ONE THING YOU THINK OTHER PEOPLE OVERVALUE?

Money. It's fake. It only means something because we said it did. We made it up in order to create some 'order' in society that makes some people feel like they are better than others. We are told that we need it in order to succeed and live so much so that it consumes us. We are taught that if you don't have enough, you don't have anything at all.

The government is truly the worst, it's filled with rules and policies that make no sense in order to keep people down and it's filled with some of the ugliest people I have ever seen and it has been since its creation of it.

Both of these things cause more people pain than happiness. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say that, but I have two middle fingers always pointed toward these two things and I know those gestures mean speak louder than my words ever could.

What does the word "wellbeing" mean to you?

If I could outstretch my arms as far as possible and wrap everyone I love in one hug.

What is your relationship with water?

Water is the elixir of life. My cousin told me that once.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOUR DAILY ROUTINE, WHAT WOULD THAT BE?

More hours in the day to dilly dally

WHAT WOULD YOUR STARTER PACK INCLUDE?

A reusable water bottle that is NOT plastic, baking supplies for a pie, a joint for each hand, my cat Kimbo, matcha, the current book I'm reading (I'm in between Gucci Mane's biography and The Grass Harp by Truman Capote) teeth gems, my tinted yellow sunglasses from Quality Mending, a sketchbook and a micron pen

HAVE YOU HAD ANY INTERESTING SHOWER THOUGHTS LATELY?

I frequently find myself in the shower wondering why it is so easy to be dirty but so hard to be clean
